Program overview
Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints, affecting up to 85% of people at some point in their lives. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including degenerative changes, muscle dysfunctions, nerve injuries, trauma or being "nonspecific" in its origin.
This 2-day seminar will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to assess and manage common and challenging lumbar spine pathologies, with or without nerve involvement.
Course agenda:
- Anatomy and physiology of the lumbar spine
- Common low back pain pathologies, including disc herniation, facet arthropathy, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and the field of mechanical non specific low back pain.
- Nerve involvement in low back pain, including radiculopathy, radiculitis, radicular pain and adherent nerve root.
- Clinical reasoning for low back pain.
- Evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for common and challenging low back pain pathologies.
- Case studies and hands-on demonstration.
Course format:
The seminar will consist of both lecture and practical sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field of low back pain and to practice implementing the latest assessment and treatment techniques on themselves and on other participants.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the seminar, participants will be able to:
- Apply a comprehensive clinical reasoning process to the assessment and diagnosis of low back pain, with or without nerve involvement.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with common and challenging low back pain pathologies, incorporating a variety of evidence-based approaches.
- Improve patient outcomes and therapist efficacy in the treatment of low back pain.

This seminar is designed for physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with low back pain.
